Banking Reform: two options for debate

14 Sep 2010

ALTER has added a speaker on Bank of England Reform to the panel at its fringe on Saturday. Alongside Brian Hodgkinson, economist and author of "A New Model of the Economy", who will be answering 'yes' to the question in the event title "Does the Banking Crisis Strengthen the case for LCT?" will be Ben Dyson, a young Yorkshire-based financial sector entrepreneur who is campaigning on reform of the entire money-creation system. Ben's answer to our question is likely to be "Maybe"!

Leading the response to these two will be the Lib Dem Leader of Newcastle City Council, Lord John Shipley. The other invited speakers were unable to attend what is one of the first fringe meetings of this Conference - on Saturday lunchtime in the Liverpool Hilton.

As usual, ALTER will also be present in the Conference Exhibition area, at stand C3. A new edition of the book "The Case for a New Peoples Budget" will be on sale for only £5, including a new chapter on the fiscal crisis. A new series of free leaflet on aspects, all of which can be downloaded from this website in a variety of formats, will also be available.
